Ability to customize and the new SQL EHR makes this a high quality program.

I've been waiting until the new SQL EMR module comes out before starting to use the exam module, which will be in fall 2010. Compared to the original EMR module its like going from DOS to Windows. Beautifully designed, completely customizable. You can go to First-Insights Web site to arrange a demo.

What do you like?
Virtually everything is customizable. Staff has been very happy with various modules including scheduler, VSP, Vision Web and inventory modules. No need to double entry Rx info with VSP and Vision Web modules. Support is excellent.

SPENT LARGE COIN, GOT HEART ACHE & NEAR FINANCIAL RUIN!

We are a 2 doctor office with 9 staff. We feel we did all the training requested with staff and had a handle on the software before we started with it. We had numerous problems at every turn. We could never get our instruments to interface even after countless days (not hours) of effort. We cut our production by 3/4 to implement the system, but were still at 1/2 production 2 months later with no hope of ever doing better as imputing all the data prior to pretest took too much time. We spent over $50k on software, hardware, interfaces, cable, and IT. We lost double that in production making Maximeyes a $150,000.00 fiasco for our office. I know I'm not the only one in this situation because another office in town had the same experience with Maximeyes and is back to paper charts.

What do you like?
We went back to chart. I like my office manager who says she definitely wants to resign before I try a new EMR, so it may be a while before we do it again. Maximeyes brought our office to a complete stand-still. We went back to charts the first of the year and we are still not over it 10 months later.
What needs work?
Security on the finances is completely absent. Any staff could change any value any time now or later. Same for the Patient records. Don't like what you see from the 1st visit...just change it to what you do like on the next visit. Cumbersome & time consuming data input kept staff busy but made no money for the practice.

Long Time Maximeyes User

Maximeyes is a very expensive EMR solution. We are a 3 doctor dispensing practice running over 20 clients on a Windows 2003 small business server. As innovations are developed, they charge you to add them on giving you a constant feeling of being "nickeled and dimed" for everything. We have been waiting for the SQL version for some time, but may give up and move on to another software vender if they continue to delay the release.

What do you like?
The look and feel of the program interface is customizable, but requires knowledge of FM Pro. We have made hundreds of customizations which improve our work flow and efficiency. The VSP integration works well, but not on our Vista based machines. The Marco integration works well in the exam module and saves significant time recording visual acuities, K readings, auto-refraction, refraction etc.
What needs work?
Scanning utility is not very good. E-prescribing option is very costly. Software needs major overhaul to make it current.

Maximeyes-great program?

Program is expensive and if they keep finding ways to beat you out of more money with each enhancement to operability, they will loose in the end and no one will feel sorry for them. EX-rediculous charge for e-prescribing per doctor. Way out of line!!!!!!!!!

What do you like?
Very good inventory conroll,billing-Electronic third party billing-excellent appointment scheduling-use for multi-doctor multi-office practice is acceptable/works OK within limitations of terminal server applications.
What needs work?
Equipment interface works well at centrall server site but does not work at all in satellite offices due to terminal server limitations. My understanding is that sequil server applications may fix this issue but they have been promising this since first approached about three years ago and has not happened yet!!!!!!! Present system used File Maker Pro for database and it is flakey and very corruptable. Requires in office computer expertise to keep it running without breaking the bank. To be fare, support has been very good and cordial with problems taken care for the most part in a timely manner.

Most of maximeyes is used by support staff, so as the doctor I can't speak to that except to say that I don't hear any "I wish it did this..." comments from them.

What needs work?
Speed of data entry and ease of customization should be addressed in new version beta due fall 2009. Customizing letters takes work, but once done, works well.
