Overall this is a great EHR in our first six months, like anything there are some headaches, but nothing too bad. Especially for the doctors this EHR is simple and easy to use, some of the ancillary staff tasks are a bit tougher though. I can't say enough about the support team, they're great.

RevolutionEHR

Overall this is a great EHR in our first six months, like anything there are some headaches, but nothing too bad. Especially for the doctors this EHR is simple and easy to use, some of the ancillary staff tasks are a bit tougher though. I can't say enough about the support team, they're great.

What do you like?
You can figure out most of the features without needing to be trained if you're proficient with computers. Support is great once you get a hold of them. Generating reports is simple. The meaningful use integration is remarkably simple and effective.
What needs work?
Several features feel tacked on rather than integrated. For example, scanning insurance cards or documents, generating letters. The scheduler feels more appropriate for a one or two doctor practice than a large practice. Support can be hard to get a hold of. Flash implementation causes some headaches.

BEST EHR for OPTOMETRY

Converting to an EHR made for some very stressful months, but we have been using Revolution for a year and a half now and we are definitely seeing the benefits. I would do it all over again with Revolution, no doubt. We completed our first year of MU in December 2012 and there is NO way I would have been able to do it withoout the support of Revolution and Dr. Jens

What do you like?
We made the move into an EHR because of the Meaningful Use incentives and Revolution made that a stress-free process. Lots of support - webinars, a complete manual explaining what each core and menu item was, how to be sure we were receiving credit, how the system tracked it and also an amazing Facebook community that provides insight and support. Dr Jens personally answered MANY emails from me, and contributes regularly on the Facebook page. His knowledge of MU and ability to educate others on it is excellent. And all of this support for MU is included in our monthly EHR fee. No other EHR provides this kind of support.
What needs work?
The initial set-up of the system in our office seemed to lack in training and oversight, there were many things we had to figure out on our own, so I guess the one weakness was in training.

RevolutionEHR understands optometry. Their support is world class. They listen and upgrade constantly. Assistance to achieve meaningful use is incredible. Their dedication and passion to provide the best and most user friendly EHR PLUS the constant backup to the cloud is unsurpassed. Their pricing is fair and affordable. They have exceeded my expectations in every way.
What needs work?
VSP integration - this is complex and I know they are working on this intensely.
User customization of drop down menus which I believe they are working on as well.
Image integration - we upload and attach, but I understand they are nearly integrated with Zeiss Forum

What do you like?
The customer support is fabulous. The CEO is very into the success and development of the product....and he is an optometrist! There are a lot of helpful training guides now. When we first signed up over 2 years ago there were not as many training guides so we just had to dive in and use it. Customer support is great and they understand that EHR is not an easy transition.

I love that it is cloud based. We just need an internet connection for the program to work. There are no charges per computer station used. ALL upgrades are done at the company - no expensive and timely software upgrades in house. The support staff keeps us well informed when upgrades or enhancements take place. We sign in the next day and they have release notes for every change with step by step instructions on anything new.

I really appreciate the CEO being so invested into our success. He keeps us well informed of changes regarding meaningful use and compliance. There are several webinars, guides, and online forums to discuss with other doctors who are also using this product. This is great since we can learn from what works for others across the nation.

I also like how there are optometry specific modules and tests in this program. We are a primary care office but also do vision therapy. We were able to have testing templates customized for our vision therapy program.

The scheduling and templates are customizable, even for different doctors.

What needs work?
The accounting has had some upgrades recently, adding more options and ways to account for overpayments/ negative balances. This has helped quite a bit. The statements can be a little tricky to understand at times. Invoicing and ledger screen views can use some more efficiency when reviewing. Optical inventory could be made more efficient with scanners. Right now our opticians enter in inventory manually but have become quite fast at it.

Best EHR on the market by a mile!

What do you like?
RevEHR is a web-based system so you do not have to maintain computers, servers or hire an IT guy or have one on call. Updates and product features are constantly being updated and they capture user requests and try to adapt them as quick as possible. The founder is an OD so he understands the enduser needs. The customer support is outstanding and virtually instantaneous. They have wonderful webinars, facebook groups and written instructions that allowed us to attest for MU in 2011. I can't say enough good things about them. Because every time I've had a "complaint" they have addressed it immediately and most of the time it's a "I wish the software did..." and next thing I know it's in the new release.

The schedular is easily adaptable, the exams are customizable, the optical ordering is easy and integrates nicely with Vision Web. e-prescribing takes seconds with a connection to RxNT.

Best of all I can use any computer I want. I use Mac, Ubuntu, and if I have to Windows. I've even logged in from my phone before.
What needs work?
The accounting, although adequate, could do better on the reports for looking at practice management statistics. I take comfort in knowing that this is a captured request and they are working on improvements, and have added features since I joined the team 3 years ago.
