What do you like?
Having started with Ivy Systems EHR in 1990, I switched to Maximeyes in 1997 after Alcon discontinued Ivy. We have worked out way thru Maximeyes 3.0 thru SQL and finally have successfully lifted 50,000+ records of 6 different doctors from 3 different locations to The Cloud. Especially if you have more than one location, First Insight's Cloud based solution is remarkably accessible, efficient and economical vs running individual, local server based networks!

What is remarkable about First Insight is how efficient and trouble free they made the massive lift to the Cloud. To make matters more complicated, I was moving to a new office location, separating from other doctors with whom I shared office and server space. We had more difficulty moving 6 phone lines the 4 miles to the new office!

We have been on the cloud for 17 months now. Worldwide, multi-device accessibility is vital to me. It has been flawless. Customization is amazingly simple. I have personally designed my preferred exam formats. Complicated reports that I have required have been developed in a timely fashion at reasonable cost. The best thing is not having all the expense and headache of maintaining a local network. They manage all the upgrades and software/hardware changes on the remote server(s)! They are responsive to the occasional glitch. There are multiple ways to reach and obtain support in a timely fashion.

The longevity of First Insight speaks to their product and value. I recommend them highly.
What needs work?
I would really like to see them integrate an more robust image management system. Currently, we import a lot of diagnostic tests, but it is difficult to view them sequentially.

Time to change!

There are other companies out there who are providing more robust programs. I am looking for the one that fits my practice and plan to implement prior to next upgrade year.

What do you like?
Maximeyes is like an old shoe. I've been using it so long, and it is the only EHR program I've used. It is comfortable. It is hard to be objective in rating the above categories. Filled in at another practice (using RevolutionEHR) and I was fumbling all over to find the right places to put exam info! Interface not customizable at all. Lacking a place to appropriately document my low vision patient encounters.
What needs work?
Support is lacking, pricing is high, upgrading to SQL is a nightmare (from what we've heard). Must switch back and forth between two different programs (interfaces?).

maximeyes

Overall I am very happy with Maximeyes. I have used it for 11 years now. When I 1st had to pick a system back then, there were only about 4 companies that I could find. Several of those companies aren't even around now. I would have no support had I not picked a reliable, viable company like Maximeyes. They may not always have an immediate solution for your problem, but they make a "ticket", investigate the problem, & get back to you. Training for both the original system as well as SQL is very good & thorough.

What do you like?
It is very customizable. You can put elements(VA, Pupils, etc) on any section(refraction, binocular vision) that you want. You don't have a "set" system that you have to make work. Can turn on "positive only" responses for a medical history summary, so I don't see all the things the pt doesn't have-only what they do have. Also like that I can customize letters to other doctors so that at the end of my exam the letter has pulled out specific info I want & with 1 click I send a letter.
What needs work?
I believe some of the things that might "need work" are actually that way because of how the government wants things. The govt wants very structured date & fields that might not always mesh with how we would like it. Entering a pt's medications has distinct separate fields for med, dosage, route, etc, that would be much easier to type all on 1 line. But, other systems could not pull this info out uniformly if it was not structured this way. PQRS codes entered much easier in previous version than SQL. They sometimes enter & sometimes don't, & there are many steps that have to be entered to get them to pull in, unlike previous version.
