Crystal is a well rounded system that is adaptable to most situations. For instance, I (the 'young' guy) am partner with two 'senior' partners who had used paper records since they started practice in the late '70's. I was able to adapt the look & feel of the records portion of Crystal to closely match the look & feel of the paper records they were used to. We converted to Crystal just over two years ago, and all three of us (as well as our staff) are huge fans. While there is no such thing as a perfect system, the flexibility and advanced options that Crystal offers give it (in my humble opinion) the best value in the EMR world. If we had to do it all over again, we certainly would (maybe just a little sooner).
We successfully attested to Phase I MU twice. Although this takes some time and effort on our part, Crystal laid the groundwork for this to happen as easily as reasonably possible.
We're focusing on 'going paperless,' and still have some steps to make, but are well on our way.
Crystal is a very stable system. I have previous experience with a competitors EMR, and while Crystal freezes up once in a great while on individual workstations, this is a very minimal problem. To date, we've never had a problem (knock on a big 'ol block of wood here) with corrupted or lost data. All of this is with our two clinics being tied together with a VPN that has never had difficulty with stability (knock, knock).
Transferring patient demographic & insurance information from a previous practice management software system was rather seamless. None of the financials transferred, but I understood the reason why that was not possible/helpful.
Customer support is almost always quick and personable. Crystal has the feel of a small, family run business that offers a high level of expertise, but with the personal feel. . .much like what we strive to offer our patients.
I love that I can produce diabetic & post-op reports by remoting in from home (after the kiddos are in bed).
What needs work?
I wish there was a way to copy & paste full CL & spec Rx's.
Converting a two location office with 3 docs & 15 staff went as well as I expected it to, but I wished at the time that the training videos were a bit more extensive and training was more formal. However, I understand that this has improved over the 2+ years since we converted.
When updates happen, there is a very long list of the numerous small things that have changed. Crystal gives us a list of what those changes were, but it could be a bit more descriptive. I feel like there may be some advanced features of the EMR that we aren't taking advantage of because I don't know about them (I suppose this is my fault, as Crystal is always prompt about answer my 'is there a way to. . .' questions).
I agree with one of the previous reviewers.... "just buy it".
IMHO, you can't go wrong.

What do you like?
My practice has been using Crystal PM since late 2007. My priority at that time was ease of transition for my staff and associates to paperless. I was able to create templates in Crystal that mirrored our paper forms. Although that did require an investment of time on my part, the result was well worth it. My staff was up and running from day one and we have never looked back. Crystal PM ranks at the top of the list as one of the best business decisions I have made.
What needs work?
The real magic of Crystal is the ability to communicate your needs and desires directly with the programmers. Every feature I requested was implemented over time. Additionally, I have been able to easily create new tabs in the Patient Record to record the data as I add new instruments, like OCT. With some effort on my part, I was able to create I&R's that self load from my exam notes saving time on compliance.
I love the AutoHistory function. I can see all the previous data at one glance for any test. Love the customizable exam forms. Love the customizable sales reports.
I left the "training" question blank because we don't train staff to use CrystalPM. It is very intuitive to use, anyone can figure out how to navigate it.
What needs work?
There are lots of little tweaks but the good thing with CrystalPM is that they are constantly improving their product. They really do listen.
