Easy to use, wonderful program

My providers were very nervous about choosing an EMR system. They were afraid they were going to get stuck with something that did not work in the long run. A friend recommended EncounterWorks, and after several demos, we were willing to go with them. We were still leery, but a little over two years later, we will not consider going to another company. The staff and support teams are always there to answer my questions, and they really do listen to what the clinics want and need and work hard to accomplish it for you. I could not recommend this company enough.

What do you like?
My physicians love the Charting sections. The new Rapid Notes feature allows each one of my providers to notate in the patients chart in the manner that is easiest for them. One of my providers has been in practice over 25 years, and he prefers to dictate his notes. Some of my newer providers love that they can tap on button options, type, draw or dictate depending on the patient and the needs. They can vary it for each patient, or use templates. One of my nurses loves the fact that if she wants parts and pieces of different templates, she can pull them out of the document and easily put them together into her own custom template with just a few clicks. She can make templates for the doctors on the spot, very easily. We even have our consent forms uploaded, and patients can use our tablets to sign directly onto the consent form, which is then saved directly into the patients chart.

I personally use the reporting section daily. The new reports that they have added, along with the older ones, makes it so that I have access to any report I need. And I am able to download them to PDF or excel if I need to. The Meaningful Use dashboard allowed us to qualify for the meaningful use stimulus without any complications.

My front desk staff uses the reminder function a lot. You can send reminders by calling, texting, or emailing. This saves my staff so much time.
What needs work?
The scheduling feature is really good. We can see schedules for one or multiple providers at once, at one or multiple facilities. We can color code our appointments, and schedule using appointment categories. It is easy to see available appointments, even 180 days ahead. I would like to be able to template my doctors schedules a little better, and when I made this recommendation, they said they were going to begin developing that for me. Once they do, I will have absolutely no complaints about it. And since they have already taken my two other recommendations and made them a reality, I am confident that they really are working on this.
