Insight Software, LLC has released version 8.5 of the acclaimed Practice Management and EMR Software My Vision Express. Following on the heels of the 8.0 release earlier this year which included many enhancements to the optical dispensing features, version 8.5 now extends My Vision Express’ already powerful insurance processing capabilities.
The centerpiece of the new release is the line-item billing and posting capability which allows for added control over the pricing structures and payment allocations in My Vision Express. Users now have the ability to govern pricing and payments at the procedure code level from the Insurance fee schedule and the order screens.
Managing and editing Insurance Fee Schedules has also been optimized by including a Filter feature and the ability to flag “Insurance Supplied” items. Once the Fee Schedules have been created, they are automatically applied to orders when that Insurance is selected. It’s also possible to adjust any line-items at the time of order, provided the user has such rights.
Payments can now be allocated to an order and sub-allocated to the individual codes in the order. The “Unallocated” field alerts the user to any remaining portion of the payment. PQRI support has also been added to the new release as well as new electronic lab interfaces for Innovations, Optivision, and Labzilla.
The web-hosted version of My Vision Express has also been enhanced. My Vision Express Online is now offered as a Terminal Services (TS) application. Using this technology guarantees users a high level of performance on just about any internet connection. My Vision Express Online can be accessed from a wide variety of platforms including: Windows PC’s, Macs, Linux PC’s, and the iPhone.
The EMR has not been left out. A new Equipment interface now supports a wide variety of ophthalmic instruments, including devices from Marco, Carl Zeiss, Topcon, Tomey, Haag-Streit, Lombart, and Oculus. Insight Software recently became a Marco Certified partner.
Another new industry partner is DataHealth. My Vision Express users can get their data backed-up automatically using this HIPAA compliant service. DataHealth is offering special pricing to My Vision Express customers.
Rounding out 8.5 is a new Frame Lens Range setting that specifies that lens power range that the frame can hold, a new Frame Metrics report, and a new Single Sign On feature that lets users log on to My Vision Express using their Windows login credentials. And e-mailing from within My Vision Express is now possible from anywhere in the software.
